12 Days Wild Tanzania And Zanzibar

This trip is the ideal combination of an in-depth safari experience including some of the best wildlife viewing opportunities in Northern Tanzania and a relaxing beach holiday on the exotic island of Zanzibar.

You will journey through Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park, each of them offering stunning views and wildlife encounters that will stay with you a lifetime. A few days of relaxation on some of the best beaches of the world will complete this unforgettable vacation.

Day 1 :: Arusha

Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, where you’ll be met by our representative. Transfer to Arusha for lunch or dinner, depending on your arrival time. Meet and greet your guide, who will sit with you for a trip briefing before your departure the following morning.

Day 2 :: Tarangire National Park

Following an early breakfast, we will drive to Tarangire NP to arrive in time for a short game drive before lunch at one of the park’s picnic sites. The park is famous about its abundance of baobab trees, big herds of elephants and big cats. We will continue with a full afternoon game drive. Tonight we’ll overnight in Karatu.

Day 3 :: Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, we’ll head to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. After registering at the gate, we will continue our drive and descend 2,000 feet to the base of the Ngorongoro Crater, where volcanic slopes shelter almost 30,000 animals. Observe the interactions of predator and prey; spot colorful bird life from Marabou Storks to Crowned Cranes; and track elephants, rare black rhinos, cheetahs, and more. We spend a full day game drive here, before we had to back to our overnight accommodation on the crater rim.

Day 4 :: Serengeti National Park

This morning on our way to Serengeti we will stop and visit one of the Maasai Cultural Bomas. Here we will meet the chief of the village and learn about the culture and history of the Maasai. As we continue to Serengeti, will stop at Oldupai Gorge, where the English couple, Louis and Mary Leak, pioneered archaeological excavation work. In the sixties, some of the earliest archaeological deposits of human evolution were found here and a small museum (visit optional) reports these discoveries. We enter the park at Naabi Gate, where we also will have our lunch. The name “Serengeti” comes from the Maasai word “Siringet” and means “endless plains”. It undoubtedly is the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world and is unequaled for its natural beauty and has the greatest concentration of game anywhere. We will head for a full afternoon game drive before driving to our overnight accommodation.

Day 5 :: Serengeti National Park

Today we will have a optional early morning game drive to witness the sunrise over the savannah and see the plains come to life. We will return for breakfast followed by a full day game drive. After a long day in the park, sundowners will be served before we have our communal dinner and we finish this incredible day with drinks around the fire. Tonight we spend an other night sleeping in the African bush.

Day 6 :: Northern Serengeti / Maasai Mara

Today we will head to northern end of the park. Along the way, we continue our search of the “Big Five” — lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards and rhinos, and you may also encounter the lesser-known “Little Five”— ant lions, rhino beetles, leopard tortoises, buffalo weavers and elephant shrews. We arrive to the Mara River in the afternoon, where the wildebeest cross the river on their annual migration. Tonight we will spend an unforgettable night at Sayari Camp, where a well deserved rest is waiting for you.

Day 7 – 8 :: Northern Serengeti / Maasai Mara

We spend two days on morning and afternoon game drives in the park. The northern part of Serengeti is teeming with animals including the rare black rhino among many others and the Mara River is famous for it’s crocodile and hippo population. During the migration, crossing the river is the single most dangerous part of the trip as here the crocodiles just wait for their prey to set foot in the water.

In the evening, join fellow guests in an exchange of safari tales around the campfire while sipping sundowners and on our last night before leaving we enjoy a memorable farewell dinner.

Day 9 :: Serengeti to Zanzibar

After a short early morning game drive and breakfast in the bush, you’ll be transported to the airstrip for your outbound flight to the magical island of Zanzibar. Upon arrival at Stone Town, you will be greeted by our representative and together you’ll drive to your accommodation. Enjoy a good swim and a sundowner at the beach to wash off all the dust of the last few days.

Day 10 – 11 :: Zanzibar

These two days are yours to spend in any way you want. Some of the activities available are; visiting a spice plantation, spending a day at the winding alleys of Stone Town, snorkeling or diving in the crystal clear water of the Indian Ocean, a fishing tour on one of the traditional dows out to the coral reefs, visiting the red colobus monkeys at Jozani forest that are native to the island or just relax by the poolside, sipping exotic cocktails.

Day 12 :: Departure

Today before your departure, spend the last few hours relaxing at the beach. Depending on your departure time, a dayroom will be available for your to get ready for your journey home. We will transfer you in time for your flight home or to your next destination.
